F.A.I.R. Principles

We serve as a data repository for the organizations using Dendra, ensuring that all participating organizations own their data and have authority over its distribution. As such, we strive to adhere to F.A.I.R. Principles for data sharing.

Findable

The user interface is designed to allow easy discoverability for users who are not familiar with the datasets. All metadata will be https://schema.org compliant and exported to a crawlable format for search engines in an upcoming release.

Accessible

We ask participating organizations to make their data open to the public unless they have specific reasons to restrict access. For encumbered datasets, we ask that they be made public after paper or data publications.

Interoperable

Dendra has two generations of full featured APIs, with helper methods developed for Python for V2.

Reusable

We store sufficient metadata such as measurement, medium, location, sensor, and datalogger, events that affect the data, and corrections made to the data (annotations) to provide a rich context for future generations of researchers using said data.
